Sometimes you just need to get away and breathe fresh air and bask in the warm sunshine. If you are lucky enough to live near the San Gabriel Mountains above Rancho Cucamonga you are fortunate to have access to the natural beauty of the North Etiwanda Preserve. This southern California protected wilderness area is comprised of 763 acres of chaparral, costal sage and many other species of wildlife and plants.
To get there from the 210 freeway take the Day Creek exit north for one mile turn right on Wilson and then left on Etiwanda Avenue. Park in the lot at the end of the road.
The hike up the trail is a good workout and offers views of the valley, wild flowers in the spring and after the winter rains there should be a steady flow of water in the stream and in Etiwanda Falls. There are picnic areas along the trail.
Treat yourself to a day of natural beauty and vigorous exercise and explore the Etiwanda Preserve.
